BeyondTheNest: Weekly e-newsletter for Rochester | |
Note from your publisher December in Rochester has a way of reminding us how much creativity lives here. As the days grow shorter, our community seems to respond by lighting up... sometimes literally, as you’ll see in our annual list of 150 spectacularly lit houses, and sometimes through music, theater, laughter, and shared traditions. This week’s newsletter gathers many of those moments in one place, from our 101 holiday happenings across Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanzaa, and New
Year’s Eve to concerts, comedy, and performances that make this season feel both festive and grounded. You’ll also find invitations to slow down and connect more deeply, whether that’s through a Winter
Solstice celebration in nature, a night of live theater or music, or an opportunity to support meaningful research for dementia caregivers. However you choose to spend these days—out on the town or close to home—I hope this week’s events help you mark the season in ways that feel joyful, thoughtful, and distinctly Rochester. P.S. If you’re still looking for a meaningful holiday gift, my new book The Eclipse Effect: How to Seize Extraordinary Moments to Build Strong Communities is a
lovely option for the leader, organizer, or eclipse-lover in your life. It’s available on all major platforms, and you can still get it in time for Christmas. (Here's an Amazon link.) —Debra Ross, publisher
